Lime Systems Supports Banks in Ukraine’s Transition to the ISO 20022 Payment Standard

The launch of Ukraine’s next-generation electronic payment system marked one of the country’s most significant infrastructure upgrades in recent years. Introduced by the National Bank of Ukraine on 1 April 2023, the new payment environment is based on the ISO 20022 messaging standard and enables round-the-clock interbank payments.

Throughout the transition, Lime Systems worked closely with the National Bank of Ukraine, partner banks, and project stakeholders to ensure that institutions using the Scrooge platform were fully prepared for the new operational and regulatory requirements.

Among the first ten banks to successfully process payments through the new infrastructure, four were operating on the Scrooge platform. Two of them — PUMB and Concord Bank — were among the earliest participants to go live with the new payment system.

The project required close coordination between financial institutions, the regulator, and technology providers to ensure a seamless transition without disrupting day-to-day banking operations.

The successful migration of all partner banks using Scrooge reflects not only the platform’s readiness for evolving payment standards but also Lime Systems’ experience in supporting large-scale regulatory and infrastructure transformations within the financial sector.
